As Chloe was watching the tape, she saw how her friendship with Nico bloomed. Everything she saw aside from the wonderful views of Korea are her fun times with Nico. Friendship was important for Jake that’s why he did this for the two. And because he loved them so much, he considered them as the highlight of the trip. But as Chloe was watching, one thing made her really cry the hardest.

FLASHBACK (chapter9)

..Nico: alam mo sabi nila malalaman mo raw soulmate mo pag tinapon mo ‘tong cards sa ere.

Chloe: tapos? ang labo naman ata? ganun na lang? (laughs)

Nico: (laughs) hindi. if the guy gets the King of hearts and the girl gets the Queen of hearts, it means they’re meant to be. sila ang mag- soulmate. 

Chloe: talaga? sige mga subukan natin.

Nico: (throws the cards in the air)

Chloe got the Queen of hearts, but Nico got the Jack of hearts.

Chloe: (smiles) alam mo di totoo yan. hahaha. (trying to comfort Nico)

Nico: (smiled) sana. 

Chloe: ano ka ba, wag ka ngang emotero.

Jake got this recorded in his videocam.

While Jake was recording this moment, one card flew in his direction. He got it in the sand. When he opened his card, he got the King of Hearts. He got this on tape and as Chloe was watching this she cried hard.

Their next stop was in the temple. They went inside the temple to see what Korean people do.

Outside was a woman who had a stand. She had a cardboard saying “Know your Soulmate, your destiny”. (Jake was still recording)

Nico: uy! try natin yun!

Chloe: sige!

According to the woman, if the pair picks the same number they’re meant for each other.

They then picked their numbers..

Chloe: i got 18. =)

Nico: mine is 23 =(

Chloe: (smiled) sus, di rin yan totoo. (trying to comfort Nico again)

Nico: hayy, sana nga.

Jake secretly picked his number, without Nico and Chloe knowing it. But he got it on tape. 

Chloe’s POV: (crying) please sana wag 18 yung nakuha mo, please. masasaktan lang ako.

Unfortunately, Chloe’s wishful thinking was not granted. Jake got 18 and he is Chloe’s soulmate. Chloe couldn’t help but cry and cry and cry and cry. But one thing made her regret her “di niya dapat malaman” attitude.

The time when Jake got hit by the truck, he had it on tape. Everything was seen there including his last breath. And on his last breath, he uttered the words….

“Chloe. I love you, goodbye”.
